From May 14 – 18, 2018, Life Care Center of Collegedale, Tennessee, celebrated National Skilled Nursing Care Week with loads of fun activities.
On Monday, May 14, resident Juanita Kelly and her husband, Gene, renewed their vows. The couple met at a dance, and they have been married for 13 years. She dressed in a beautiful wedding gown, and Gene dressed in a classy black suit as they pledged their love anew among the white wedding decorations. Their children attended the ceremony.
“It was a wonderful day,” said Juanita Kelly.
Wednesday brought residents to the Wild West with a special performance in the parking lot. Jala West, social services director, brought her Arabian gelding, Doc Holiday, and her riding instructor, Cavin Graham, rode the horse as they danced to “Watermelon Crawl” by Tracy Byrd. Several associates danced with them.
“I loved it,” said resident Henrietta Hill. “It was a beautiful horse.”
Since the week was also Police Officers Week, Capt. Jerry Sutton from the Chattanooga Police Department came by on Thursday, May 17, to help residents with bingo. Sutton is the daughter of Bobbie Sutton, activities assistant at the facility.
“The residents enjoyed seeing her in uniform walking about and helping them with bingo, talking to them and taking pictures with them,” said Marie Ross, activity director.
